Agrima Joshua who is a Mumbai- based standup comedian received rape threats and abuse for the past two days. She hosted a gig in 2019 where she spoke about Chhatrapati Shivaji upcoming statue in Maharashtra. She had also mentioned some funny things about that she have read in Quora through question and answer. For a comedian to reveive any sought of criticism is nothing new but when it comes to receive abuses and death threats is not justifiable. In her performance she said about that a user on Quora had written about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
It was mentioned that the Statue will have GPS tracker and will shoot laser rays out of the idol’s eyes to kill Pakistani terrorists in the Arabian Sea. One year later the video got viral immensely and was shared widely in social media with several people accusing her of disrespecting Maratha Ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
The video was reportedly part of a sketch Joshua had performed in April 2019 at a café in Mumbai’ Khar (west). Angry social Media users also shared details of the café employees, while members of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) allegedly barged into the café on Saturday and vandalized the property of the café. Taking into consideration the growing demands for action against Agrima Joshua, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh asked the Police to take legal action against the comedian and urged everyone to maintain calm. He futher said that law will take its own course.
In a video posted on Twitter Agrima Joshua apologized for hurting the sentiments of the followers of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Furthermore she even cut the section that sparked controversy out of the larger YouTube Video.
While in the part of her performance where she highlighted some funny answers on Quora about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue was a hit at the government for splurging hard-earned taxpayer’s money, her Joke was not taken lightly by many viewers especially with an instagram “Influencer” Subham Mishra who lives in Gujarat’s Vadodra.

“Bekhauf Bindaas Bebaak” (meaning, fearless, carefree, bold) posted a video on his page wherein he not only abuses and gives rape threat to Agrima Joshua but also to her mother and sister.
Seated in a car in a Big Boss fame Hindustani Bhai, Shubham was quiet fearless and bold as he said that she would rape her from her back and in such a manner she would have never imagined. At the end he also said that he also respect girls. Subham Mishra’s abuses and threat to Argrima Joshua have made a big issue and was taken up by many celebrities. Mallika Dua, Swara Bhasker and Kunal Kamra even urged the Mumbai, Gujrat police, as well as National Commission for Woman to take immediate necessary action against him.
Hundred of citizens too have demanded strict action against him with tweet #ArrerstsubhamMishra. Soon Mishra deleted the video from Instagram account. After multiple complaints online, the Vadodra police on Sunday evening have taken a suo moto action against Shubham Mishra.
Legal process of FIR against him under relevant section of IPC and IT Act had been registered. Shubham Mishra has been detained under police custody. Maharashtra Home minister Anil Deshmukh too on Sunday addressed the complaints against Mishra’s video and said that action will be taken against him
